 The Governor of East Kalimantan (East Kalimantan) Isran Noor has dismissed the concerns of a number of parties that the two regions that will become new capitals are prone to flooding, difficult to ground water, and potentially affected by an earthquake. Because North Pener Paser (PPU) and Kutai Kertanegara are at an altitude of 50 meters above sea level.

This is different from Samarinda, which in June was flooded. Isran said that many people did not understand the geographical conditions of the area and the cause of the flood in Samarinda. Around 20-25 percent of the area does have basins, low so that flooding is easy.
